Janet Jackson is releasing her first single in three years. The 52-year-old pop legend recently announced that her upcoming song “Made For Now,” featuring reggaeton rapper Daddy Yankee, will be out on Aug. 17.
It’s already been an eventful year for Jackson. She’s been traveling on her State of the World Tour and was previously honored with the Icon Award at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. Also at the award show, Jackson did not disappoint when she delivered an electric performance – her first televised performance in nine years. With new music now on the way, Jackson seems to have no plans of slowing down her momentous year, and we can’t wait to witness it.
By the looks of it, Gina Rodriguez had a pretty great birthday this year. The Jane the Virgin star celebrated her 34th birthday on July 30 in Tulum, Mexico, with several friends and her boyfriend of almost two years, Joe LoCicero. Oh, and she may have also gotten engaged.
On the morning of her birthday, Gina shared a shot of herself seated by the beach wearing a massive diamond ring on her left hand. In her caption, Gina quoted Frida Kahlo and wrote, “They thought I was a Surrealist, but I wasn’t. I never painted dreams. I painted my own reality.” On Instagram Stories, she shared similar pictures from the same spot, as well as one with Joe that feels very newly engaged-esque. US Weekly later reported the couple is in fact engaged.
This isn’t the first time the star has sparked engagement rumors, however. At the Oscars earlier this year, Gina wore a diamond band on her ring finger while walking the red carpet with Joe. Though this recent news seems like the real deal, Gina and Joe have yet to officially confirm the news apart from sharing the sweet vacation shots. If this does turn out to be true, though, then she had a damn good birthday indeed.

Dennis Quaid is remembering his experience filming The Parent Trap exactly two decades after the film’s release. While promoting his portrayal of Ronald Reagan in an upcoming biopic, the 64-year-old actor opened up about working with Lindsay Lohan and the late Natasha Richardson in an interview on Megyn Kelly Today.
When asked to describe his former female castmates, Dennis became emotional at the mention of Natasha, who passed away from a head injury she sustained while skiing in 2009. In addition to praising the actress’s “great family relationship” with her two sons and husband Liam Neeson, Dennis said it was a joy to work with her in the 1998 romantic comedy. “She was just a joy to work with. She was, like, a worker,” he said. “No ego – none of that crap actors pull.”
Dennis also reminisced about working with Lindsay, who was only 11 when filming began on The Parent Trap. After urging a “comeback” from the actress, Dennis said, “She was one of the most talented people I ever met.” Adding, “When we were doing the film, she had me believing that there was two kids, that there were twins, for real.”
In the remainder of his interview, which aired on July 23, Dennis addresses his struggle with cocaine addiction, as well as his high-profile 10-year marriage to Meg Ryan.
Victoria Beckham caught her 13-year-old son, Cruz, singing about his mama. Well, technically not his mama – Justin Bieber’s mama. The 44-year-old fashion designer and mom of four recently shared candid videos of Cruz covering Justin’s 2015 song “Love Yourself.”
Cruz kills his acoustic cover, too. In fact, he sounds a whole lot like Justin when he made his music debut as a teenager back in 2009. In her captions, Victoria said Cruz was doing his morning vocal warm-up, adding, “This is waking up in the Beckham house!” Watch the heartwarming videos and then check out pictures from the family’s recent beach vacation.
Brokeback Mountain catapulted the already-thriving acting careers of Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal when it was released in 2005. The film was met with success during the subsequent award season, and the two actors each earned Oscar nominations for their respective portrayals of Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist. Though it’s now difficult to imagine anyone else in those roles, Gus Van Sant recently named the four other actors approached for the film.
While promoting Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot, Van Sant said he was considered to direct Brokeback Mountain before the gig went to Ang Lee. The director said it “wasn’t working out,” however, because actors kept turning it down, namely Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Ryan Phillippe. “Nobody wanted to do it,” Van Sant told IndieWire. “I was working on it, and I felt like we needed a really strong cast, like a famous cast.”
When asked to confirm Van Sant’s list, Brokeback Mountain producer and screenwriter Diana Ossana said, “Yes, all those young gentlemen (at the time) turned down the project, for various reasons.”
In retrospect, Van Sant thinks he shouldn’t have been so concerned about casting such high-profile actors. “What I could have done, and what I probably should have done, was cast more unknowns, not worried about who were the lead actors,” he said. “I was not ready. I’m not sure why. There was just sort of a hiccup on my part. There was something off with myself, I guess, whatever was going on.”
In addition to that surprising revelation, Van Sant also said he was offered to direct 2017’s Call Me by Your Name, which was directed by Luca Guadagnino. “I don’t think it would have panned out the way it did if I had directed it. I think it was great,” he said.
Zombieland is coming back from the dead. The Hollywood Reporter has learned the 2009 cult-favorite post-apocalyptic comedy is officially getting a sequel starring the complete original cast: Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin.
“This is one of those projects that fans have wanted to see happen for a long time – and no one wanted to see it happen more than Emma, Woody, Jesse, and Abigail,” Columbia Pictures President Sanford Panitch told The Hollywood Reporter. “These are some of the most in-demand actors, and I think they are making this movie because they love these characters.”
Production is set to begin January 2019, with the intention of the movie being released October 2019 – exactly 10 years after the original. Learn more details about the long-awaited sequel ahead.
Drew Barrymore spent her day off with Cameron Diaz, and that’s exactly how we like to spend our Summer Fridays, too. The 43-year-old actress recently shared a stunning, no-makeup selfie with her longtime friend and former Charlie’s Angels costar. In her hashtag-filled caption, Drew sweetly described Cameron as an “old-school sister,” and as for their impeccable complexions, Drew emphatically wrote, “#SUNSCREENALWAYS.”
The two actresses have known each other since they were teenagers and first met at the coffee shop Drew worked at when she was 14. After working on the Charlie’s Angels franchise, however, the two became great friends, and Cameron even went on to be a bridesmaid at Drew’s wedding to Will Kopelman in 2012. After all this time, it’s lovely to see this female friendship still going strong.
After two emotional seasons, Queer Eye has become known for making both its viewers and hosts involuntarily sob. While different moments resonate with each member of the so-called Fab Five, Antoni Porowski recently shared the season two episode that definitively guttered them all. (Yes, it’s the episode about Tammye.)
In the season two premiere, “God Bless Gay,” the Netflix show’s Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Tan France, Jonathan Van Ness, and Porowski help Tammye renovate her local community center in preparation for an annual homecoming event. Along the way, they counsel and make over the mother and cancer survivor in the heartwarming way they often do, and in return, Tammye radiates positivity and imparts her life-changing wisdom. It was such a special episode in fact, that it was actually filmed as the season finale.
“Tammye’s episode was actually filmed as the last one. Originally, it was going to be the last episode to air of the season,” Porowski told POPSUGAR in a recent interview. “It was such a fricking emotional rollercoaster – as you can see from my snot-crying throughout the episode.” After realizing the impact of the episode, it was decided that it would instead open the season. “It was the one episode where we weren’t sitting down and watching her accomplish her mission. It was more of a ‘she’s teaching us’ episode.”
Though the cast was “relieved and excited” to wrap the season and get back to their respective families, the emotional experience of filming Tammye’s episode made them want to share one last meal together . . . at McDonald’s. “We stopped by McDonald’s and we all fully binged,” Porowski said. “I had three cheeseburgers, a Big Mac, a six-piece chicken tender, a McFlurry, the Oreo one, and – oh, yeah – and I had a chicken Snack Wrap, the one that has mayo and iceberg lettuce.”
After their McDonald’s feast, Porowski said the Fab Five drove around listening to Rihanna and Britney Spears. “It was amazing,” he said. “Yes, we were brought together through artificial circumstances, chemistry-testing, and Netflix, but we’re all friends for life and we all consider ourselves brothers.”
Amy Adams and Chris Messina have a palpable chemistry in the debut episode of Sharp Objects alone. It’s almost as if they’ve done this whole acting thing together before. Well, as it turns out, they have! Nearly a decade ago, the actors costarred in 2009’s Julie & Julia, the heartwarming Nora Ephron-led movie about renowned chef Julia Child and author Julie Powell. In the movie, Messina portrays Julie’s husband, Eric Powell. In the gritty HBO miniseries, Adams portrays Camille Preaker, while Messina portrays Detective Richard Willis.
After becoming friends following Julie & Julia, Messina said he was eager to work with Adams again. “I wanted another shot with Amy when I wasn’t just eating her food and telling her how delicious it was,” the actor told the New York Post. In fact, Adams advocated for Messina to be cast in Sharp Objects. Messina said, “I think she wanted someone around her – and there are several of us – that she trusted and felt comfortable with as she had to go to these extreme dark places.” To learn more about the series and the novel it’s based on, read our spoiler-free summary.
Wonder Woman may have ended with triumph for its titular hero, portrayed by Gal Gadot, but it, of course, wasn’t without a few losses. At the climax of Patty Jenkins’s 2017 blockbuster, Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) sacrifices himself when he hijacks a bomb headed for London and detonates it at a high altitude. So, how is it possible then that the charming character will be returning for the upcoming second installment, Wonder Woman 1984? In a quintessentially ’80s ensemble, no less!
Following the release of the first film, Jenkins addressed the “big question” regarding Steve’s fate and whether he would appear in the sequel. “All I can say is it was a dilemma,” she told Fandango. Since we now know Steve will make an appearance in some capacity, the next mystery is how will the sequel explain the events following his death and his seemingly illogical return? Even though we won’t know for sure until Dec. 13, 2019 – deep sigh – there are already a few theories on how Steve’s return could work.
1. Steve Never Really Died
Given its tragic nature, many viewers hoped Steve hadn’t actually died at the end of Wonder Woman. That theory is now becoming increasingly more feasible. On Reddit, one user explained that the movie doesn’t actually show Steve inside of the plane as it explodes, and he may have jumped out of the plane with a parachute right before detonating the bomb. Some viewers even claim they were able to see a parachute falling from the plane in that moment, but we’ve yet to give the movie an eagle-eyed viewing to know for sure.
2. It’s Steve’s Descendant
It’s possible that who we’ll see in Wonder Woman 1984 is not actually Steve, but a descendant of his who fortunately inherited his good looks. The theory actually isn’t too far-fetched given that the ’70s Wonder Woman series starring Lynda Carter pulled a similar stunt with Lyle Waggoner playing both Steve Trevor and Steve Trevor Jr. following a time-jump.
3. It’s Actually Ares
Here’s a slightly disturbing theory: what if the resurrected Steve is actually Ares, the God of War, inheriting another mortal vessel? The grim theory has been floated around by fans, however, it’s not as likely that the franchise would have him back as a villain when Dr. Barbara Minerva, a.k.a. Cheetah (Kristen Wiig), is confirmed as the next villain. Then, of course, there’s the fact that Diana Prince destroys him at the end of Wonder Woman.
4. Steve Was Made Immortal in Themyscira
Could Steve’s time in Themyscira have solved the problem of his mortality? Unfortunately, no. In a 2017 interview with Elle, Jenkins ruled out the theory that the fictional land’s “magic Amazonian waters” turned Steve into an immortal being. “I’ve got bad news for everybody,” Jenkins said. At least that leaves one less theory to wonder about!
We knew this wasn’t going to be easy. When it was first announced that Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet would be starring in the Beautiful Boy film adaptation about a father weathering his son’s drug addiction, we braced ourselves for the emotional journey. With the recent release of the full-length trailer, however, we’re realizing that we might have needed some more time to prepare.
In his first big role since his Call Me by Your Name success, Chalamet seems to deliver a heartbreaking role that is already receiving Oscar buzz. The same goes for Carell, who was nominated for best actor in 2014 for his role in Foxcatcher. Beautiful Boy will hit theaters on Oct. 12, 2018. In the meantime, watch, or rewatch, the tear-duct-inundating trailer and commiserate with others who are also going through the damn thing after watching it.
The world could use some sage advice and kind words from Fred Rogers right about now. The beloved children’s show host is the subject of a recently released documentary, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, which explores his life, his legacy, and the lasting influence of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. While the biopic is sure to bring on the tears – the sight of Hanks in that red cardigan alone will do the trick! – the documentary has left entire theaters of adults weeping even long after the film has ended. Read some heartwarming reactions to the movie ahead, and prepare to get a little misty-eyed.
After Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner announced their engagement in October 2017, the Jonas family could not have more pleasant things to say about the Game of Thrones actress. In a recent interview with Fox News, Nick Jonas gushed over his future sister-in-law.
“I’m very excited. I think Sophie is an incredible addition to our family,” Nick said about the couple’s upcoming nuptials. “She’s like a sister to me already. I don’t have any details about the wedding for you, but I’m sure those will be out soon.”
Nick’s comments echo that of his father, Kevin Jonas Sr., who recently praised Sophie in an interview with People. “[We] love the way that Joe loves her and the way that she loves him,” he said. “We’re a blessed family to have her as our future daughter-in-law – and, in our minds, [she’s] already a daughter-in-law!”
Though they may be close, Nick admitted that Sophie has yet to spill any insider Game of Thrones season eight knowledge. “She’s very good about her confidentiality agreement. So is [my brother]. He’s not allowed to say anything either,” Nick said. “But also, I don’t really want it to be spoiled. I’m kind of a fan seeing it as it happens.” Sure, Nick, sure.
Exactly four decades since Grease‘s release, John Travolta still has his moves. The 64-year-old actor recently stopped by The Tonight Show to promote his new movie Gotti and treated host Jimmy Fallon to a quick choreography lesson.
Specifically, John re-created the famous “four corners” move seen at the very end of the movie. “Like in Pulp Fiction, I grew up with all these kind of novelty dances,” John said. “I grew up with all these kind of novelty dances. In Grease, they needed a step for ‘You’re the One That I Want’ at the end, so I said, ‘Well, we used to do the four corners. Why don’t we do that?’” Watch John re-create the move above, and then enjoy his reaction to a bone-chilling Grease fan theory.
Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson sent the internet into overdrive when the news of their engagement broke after a few weeks of dating. Though Ariana was spotted wearing a pretty blinding ring on that finger, fans were still unsure if the news was true. Now, the 24-year-old singer has seemingly confirmed her engagement in a series of emotional and excited tweets.
On June 11, Ariana replied to several fan tweets congratulating the couple. She even responded to a fan who joked that Ariana and Pete’s wedding would “outsell” the royal wedding. In another reply, Ariana wrote, “I’m so happy. and excited.” The pièce de résistance, however, was Ariana’s tweet to friend and fellow pop star Camila Cabello. See, Ariana and Camila have a history of referring to each other as “wife,” a term of endearment they have used for years. Well, the newly engaged Ariana gave Camila a heads up with a tweet that simply said, “We need to talk.”
Ahead, enjoy all of Ariana’s enthusiastic, post-engagement tweets as you allow it to sink in that, yes, this is really happening.

Anthony previously hosted the acclaimed No Reservations, which ran for nine seasons.

Following glamorous appearances at the Met Gala and then the royal wedding, we’re starting to realize that George and Amal Clooney don’t have regular date nights. In their latest outing, the couple appeared at the AFI Life Achievement Award Gala Tribute on Thursday in LA. In fact, the 57-year-old actor was the guest of honor as this year’s recipient of the esteemed award.
Looking like they just stepped out of Old Hollywood, George wore a classic tuxedo, while Amal wore a dazzling pink – dare we say rose gold? – gown. The pair, parents to twins Alexander and Ella, looked like they had a great time, too, as they giggled all along the red carpet and lovingly looked at each other in that way they often do.
The star-studded affair also brought out George’s nearest and dearest including his parents, Nick and Nina Clooney, as well as Cindy Crawford, Rande Gerber, Jennifer Aniston, and Courteney Cox. Unfortunately, George and Amal’s twins, Alexander and Ella, didn’t make an appearance, but George did gush to Us Weekly about how they celebrated their first birthday on Wednesday. “Well, the kids got drunk. I don’t know what you guys were doing, but I came home, they had a bottle of booze,” George joked. “It was really embarrassing, but they’re feeling better today.”
George also opened up about his new life as a dad, saying, “It’s really fun. It’s perfect.” Aw! Ahead, enjoy pictures from their classy evening.
